“I want to sleep in a rainforest.” This was our brief from a very lucky 8-year-old client whose adorable imagination we took as inspiration for the luscious design of her bedroom. We wanted to create a serene space that worked as a functional bedroom while maintaining the charm of a magic forest without looking like a theatre set. We think we found the perfect balance between practicality and fantasy.
A gorgeous green palette was chosen for the walls with soft furnishings with natural motifs throughout the space. We used a photorealistic wallpaper to create a sense of lying on the forest floor as you go to sleep which was directly taken from the youthful brief that called for a garden path leading into a rainforest.
We love all the natural elements we brought to the room such as the twig lamp, the gorgeous rattan hanging chair from Equator Homewares, and the little gnome side table from Philippe Stark for Kartell. Little pops of colour come from the butterfly details on the bed, the vibrant bird textiles and the little gnome.
Our young client was awestruck when she saw the finished result. It was wonderful to be given such a creative brief to let loose on and find a chic solution that allows a dream to become reality.
