We certainly had fabric on the brain when we went to the Musée des Tissus et Arts Décoratifs and we were looking forward to learning more about the history of silk and textile production in Lyon and France. However, the museum wasn’t quite as organised or informative as we had hoped.
Despite the museum’s shortcomings we were able to see a history of costume design for the Lyon Opera. The workmanship put into each costume was breathtaking and we were pleased to see examples of costumes from a range of styles from the very traditional to what could only be described as the shocking future.
Rather than take photos of the costumes in their entirety, we thought the fabric should be the focus and so we’ve included here some close-up shots of the beautiful textiles on show.
That’s all from us in beautiful Lyon but keep your eye out for our upcoming trip to the Dries van Noten exhibition at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris.
